Green’s Farmhouse Cheddar

As the most well known cheese this has won many prizes over the years with its strong powerful flavour, typical of a West Country Cheddar which comes from 12 months of maturing.

The Green family have been farming at West Pennard since 1920 when Hubert Green married Kathleen Dunkerton, who had learnt the skills of cheese making as a young girl. Her skills were used on their own farm, as they made cheese from the surplus milk. Her great knowledge has been passed down through four generations to the present day.

The village of West Pennard lies in prime dairy farming country and is just over three miles west of Glastonbury, and 11 miles from Cheddar (Gorge), home of the original Cheddar Cheese.
